Awards and Recognition
Our neuroscience programs consistently garner acclaim year after year. In 2010, Methodist Hospitals earned Primary Stroke Center Certification by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP), a nationally-recognized organization that has been accrediting healthcare facilities for more than 60 years. Methodist Hospitals was again awarded recertification by HFAP in 2014. HFAP awards this certification after an extensive review of Methodist Hospitals’ capabilities in stroke care. Stroke is the third leading cause of death in America and the leading cause of adult disability. Providing patients who have suffered a stroke with a continuum of care that is prompt and effective has significant positive impact on the quality of their lives in the future.
In 2014, Methodist also earned the American Heart Association (AHA) Gold Plus Performance Award for Stroke. We have also achieved a Multiple Sclerosis Center Designation by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. And in 2013, U.S. News & World Report recognized Methodist Hospitals 13th overall out of 175 hospitals in the state for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
