Methodist Hospital Float wins grand prize in Popcorn Festival

VALPARAISO | The Orville Redenbacher Parade kicked off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012 as part of the 34rd Annual Popcorn Festival in downtown Valparaiso. The two-hour parade included over 80 parade entries and featured amazing floats made mostly of popcorn. Each float was built by an area business or organization that dedicated numerous hours to construction. The judges selected the float created by Methodist Hospital as the Grand Prize Winner. The complete list of awards for the 2012 Parade include:

Grand Prize – Methodist Hospital

First Runner-up – Hoosier Chiropractor

Second Runner-up – St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church

Special Recognition – Prompt Ambulance

Con Agra Golden Tassel Award – NITCO

Community “Pop”ular Award – Valparaiso Swim Club

Best Little Kernel Award – Growing Kids Learning Center

Mr. Pop-N-Fest – Harvest Tyme Pumpkin Patch

Kernel Kup – Flanigan’s Bulk Mail
