Like every healthcare institution across the nation, Methodist Hospitals faces two critical objectives – to care for those afflicted with COVID-19, while taking measures to help reduce its spread. To accomplish that, we relied on the expertise and dedication of every doctor, nurse and staff member and reviewed and revised almost every aspect of our operation.
From the start, the hospital separated patients with COVID-19 symptoms from other Emergency Department patients. Suspected COVID-19 patients called a special triage number, before being seen in an isolated exam area. Ultimately, Methodist instituted drive-through testing for symptomatic patients with a doctor’s order.
COVID-19 patients requiring hospitalization are admitted to dedicated inpatient units at both campuses where they receive the most efficient, effective care possible while preventing exposure to other patients. The hospital has converted patient rooms into negative pressure and intensive care rooms to answer the COVID-19 patient surge.
Dedicated Patient Units: We have isolated all COVID-19 patients in dedicated inpatient units.
