The Inpatient Rehabilitation Institute at Methodist Hospitals is one of the largest medical rehabilitation units in the state. Our complete continuum of services includes acute inpatient, neurological, medical, wound treatment, and outpatient rehabilitation; specialty programs for orthopedic and sports injury patients; home care services; and coordination with community-based organizations to help each patient achieve maximum functional ability. Founded in 1971, we have earned a reputation for excellence and positive outcomes.
CARF Accreditation
Since 1973, our dedicated Inpatient Rehabilitation Institute has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). CARF accredited programs and services meet consumer-focused, state-of-the-art national standards of performance, with a monitoring system in place. It provides patients with a guarantee that we are dedicated to obtaining optimum results for each person we serve.

Ongoing Assessments and Positive Results
Our Inpatient Rehabilitation Institute reaches beyond CARF evaluations, which regularly measure the effectiveness of our program. Our patients experience better outcomes and increased satisfaction, with results that speak for themselves:
- We measure our performance in delivering quality care on an ongoing basis. These evaluations compare the results from regular patient follow-up research with regional and national, diagnosis-specific outcomes.
- The Rehabilitation Institute discharged 82% of patients served back to their homes, compared to 77% of those served by other facilities in the NW Indiana region.
- 98% of our patients reported that they were satisfied with the overall service they received.
- 100% of our patients said they would recommend the Rehabilitation Institute at Methodist Hospitals to others.
