EMT Training Programs

Methodist proudly offers two Emergency Medical Technician training programs to get you started in your healthcare career

2024 Fall EMT Class NOW ACCEPTING Applications

Starting August 12, 2024, and will continue for six months.

The EMT class meets on Monday and Thursday nights 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm at Midlake Campus.

Start your healthcare career as an Emergency Medical Technician with Methodist Hospitals’ EMT Training Program. The EMT is a front-line, entry-level healthcare provider. As an EMT, you may work in various environments: transporting patients between facilities, responding to emergency calls, in a hospital emergency department, and elsewhere a first-response capability is required.

EMT certification and work experience are required for those seeking Paramedic training, which is also offered by Methodist Hospitals.

Methodist Hospitals offers two training sessions each year. Each session meets twice weekly (Mondays & Thursdays) from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Classes comprise approximately 15-20 students.

The Methodist Hospitals EMT Training Program

  • 200 didactic hours
  • 32 hours ambulance ride-along
  • 24 ER observation hours

At the completion of this course, you will be eligible for testing for Indiana certification and become a valued member of the pre-hospital emergency care team.

Enrollment Requirements & Tuition

  • Student candidates must be at least 18 years old, and available to attend all scheduled classes
  • Cost: $1,300.00
  • Payment plans available, VA Assistance eligible
  • Includes all course materials, including text book and work book, stethoscope, one clinical shirt, and AHA Healthcare Provider CPR Course

Acceptance into the program will be on a first come basis for individuals who fulfill enrollment requirements, until all available positions are filled. Class sizes are limited. Candidates sponsored by Fire Departments or Private Ambulance Services must provide a PO at the time of registration. Tuition is non-refundable after the first class. Interested in EMT classes? Introducing Our New Hybrid EMT Program!

The Methodist Hospitals is thrilled to announce the launch of our inaugural Hybrid EMT Class, starting in the fall of 2024!

This innovative 10-week program combines the flexibility of online learning with the essential hands-on experience. Students will engage in interactive online classrooms for the majority of the coursework and participate in on-campus sessions every Thursday from 9 AM to 1 PM.

Who Should Apply?

This program is designed for individuals with a background in emergency services, firefighting, or medical fields. The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Can effectively use technology to enhance their learning experience.
  • Thrives as an independent learner.
  • Possesses a solid understanding of the human body and emergency services.

Admission Requirements

To enroll in this cutting-edge program, students must:

  • Successfully complete an entrance exam.
  • Provide letters of recommendation.

Program Costs

  • Tuition: $1300.00
  • Technology Fee: $300.00
