You’ve studied and you’ve sacrificed. Now it’s time to apply everything you’ve learned toward caring for patients – which is what inspired you to become a nurse in the first place. At Methodist Hospitals, we have created an environment and culture in which upcoming or new grad RNs can take those first key steps in their new nursing career.

Methodist Hospitals has even more for upcoming or new graduates of accredited nursing programs.
Nurse Externs work closely with our professional health care team to deliver compassionate care to those in need. In this 6 month to 1 year nurse extern program, depending on the specialty area, they develop self-confidence as well as critical thinking and time management skills as they sharpen the clinical skills needed to launch their nursing careers. They benefit from individualized orientation plans tailored to their specific learning needs and from support provided by experienced preceptors.
This updated program reflects our continued commitment to supporting nursing students and new graduates as they transition into professional practice. This program enhances the pipeline of future nurses and supports a smoother transition into clinical practice.
