Methodist Hospitals has a tradition of honoring its employees with annual service awards that recognize years of service in 5 year increments ranging from 5 to 40 years. This year, 244 employees were recognized for milestones reached in 2019. While the usual banquet held each year in March had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 crisis, Methodist Hospitals President & CEO Matt Doyle was determined to still honor these employees. “Our Annual Service Awards are a cherished tradition because our most important asset is our people”, he said.

Employees celebrating milestones of 5 to 35 years received a thank-you letter, pin and booklet with gift options in the mail at their homes. Six employees, who had reached 40-year milestones, were recognized at a special, socially distanced meeting of hospital leadership, conducted partly via Zoom. At this special meeting, awards were also given for Safety Star of the Year, Employee of the Year, Leader of the Year and Humanitarian of the Year:

Sandra Pierce-Bardwell – Humanitarian of the Year, Transitional Care Nurse

The Humanitarian of the Year award recognizes Methodist Hospitals’ employees who have made a great impact on the lives of people in the communities we serve…

Amanda Hildebrandt – Safety Star of the Year, Registered Nurse, Southlake Campus ICU

The Safety Star of the year recognizes an employee who has made a major contribution to improving safety for our patients and staff by reducing errors and harm.

Nancy Scott, Employee of the Year, Registered Nurse, Infection Control

The Employee of the Year Award recognizes an employee for their outstanding contributions, exceptional accomplishments and behavior that exemplified our Model of Care and Conduct.

Pat Dawes, Director, IT Financial Applications and Penny Holsclaw, Manager, Employee Health and Wellness, Co-Recipients of the Leader of the Year Award

The Leader of the Year Award recognizes a supervisor, manager or director who is judged by their peers to embody the values, mission, vision and Model of Care and Conduct of Methodist Hospitals, including our I-Care Values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.
