METHODIST HOSPITALS OFFERS EDUCATION CLASSES FOR PATIENTS WITH DIABETES

Methodist Hospitals is offering a variety of programs for patients with diabetes. Listed below is the schedule of programs in July, August, and September:

First three Wednesday and Tuesday of every month:

Diabetes Self-Management Education Classes involve all aspects of treatment education as well as prevention of chronic complications. This class is held the first three Wednesdays of every month, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. or 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Southlake Campus, Pavilion D, 303 E. 89th Ave., Merrillville. Classes are also offered the first three Tuesdays of every month, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Northlake Campus (600 Grant St., Gary). Meet by booth #5 in outpatient registration. You can call (219) 738-5802 to register — classes are covered by most insurance plans, and patients must have a physician referral.

Fourth Tuesday of each month:

Diabetes Support and Education Group discusses topics related to diabetes. This program is for persons with diabetes and their family members. This program is held on the fourth Tuesday of each month, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Northlake Campus (600 Grant St., Gary). and from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Southlake Campus (Pavilion D, 303 E. 89thAve., Merrillville). To register, call (219) 738-5802.
