Cassie Armour-Martin, RN

Northlake Campus, Manager, Women and Children Services

I first heard the call to nursing at the age of four during a stay at the Methodist Hospitals pediatric unit. That experience ignited my passion for nursing, and I knew then that I wanted to make a difference in the community where I was born and raised.

Methodist Hospitals has always held a special place in my heart. My family has consistently chosen Methodist for our healthcare needs, and I was drawn to the hospital’s mission, vision, and values which align closely with my personal and professional beliefs. That includes constantly striving to achieve excellence and facing challenges head-on while prioritizing the health and wellbeing of my patients, my staff and me.

What sets Methodist Hospitals apart, in my opinion, is the dedication of the frontline staff. They work tirelessly to provide the best possible care. As a nurse manager, I’m deeply invested in fostering a culture of nursing excellence and providing ample professional development opportunities for my staff. Methodist Hospitals offers various avenues for growth, including shared governance, tuition reimbursement, and a clinical ladder program.

I believe in leading by example. My leadership style is a blend of various approaches, tailored to the unique needs of every member of my team. I prioritize tasks by addressing immediate needs while also engaging in thoughtful planning to tackle larger challenges.

Effective communication and collaboration are essential within any nursing unit. So, I strive to foster an environment in which open communication is encouraged and teamwork is valued. By modeling the behaviors I wish to see in my staff, I seek to promote a culture of mutual respect and collaboration.

One of my top priorities is ensuring that nurses in my unit feel valued, supported, and motivated. I make it a point to regularly round on my units, engaging with staff members and expressing my gratitude for their hard work and dedication. It’s important to me that my staff knows they’re appreciated and that I’m accessible to address any concerns or needs they have.

My nursing career at Methodist Hospitals has been guided by a deep-rooted commitment to serve my community and make a difference in the lives of others. I’m determined to uphold our hospital’s values, foster nursing excellence, and ensure that each member of my team feels valued, supported and empowered to deliver the very best care possible.
