When I was little, my grandma was very sick in and out of hospitals, and she would spend a lot of time in the ER and the ICU. That’s when I knew I wanted to go into nursing. It’s important to me that I’m helpful. Our area is kind of an underserved community. So, we help people learn about their illnesses or help a new mom to take care of a sick child. We’re also there on their worst day, too. We’re helpful whether we’re just there to give advice, or if we’re holding someone’s hand while their going through something really rough.
I knew I wanted to be in the Emergency Room because it changes every day. But I did get my Master’s degree in February 2020, right before COVID. I thought I wanted to go into management. But I’m still a staff nurse, and I wouldn’t change that now. Just the amount of people that we took care of and helping my team members out. I’m glad that I stayed as a staff nurse for now.
There are a lot of very hard-working people here, and we work together well to provide the best care that we can to anyone who walks through the doors. You don’t tell anybody, no. If you need help, we will help you.
My coworkers mean everything to me. We’re friends inside work, outside of work, we get together, we have a good time, but we’re always professional. It makes a huge difference when you enjoy working with your coworkers, so it makes the day go by so fast. They’re all very professional, knowledgeable, and very caring. I know that they have my back. No matter what.
