You can support Methodist Hospitals while receiving a tax benefit. Congress has made permanent the IRA Charitable Rollover. In previous years, the availability of the rollover provision was subject to annual approval by Congress. Now it has been made permanent.
The IRA Rollover provides a meaningful opportunity for individuals 70½ years of age or older who are required to take a minimum IRA distribution. This opportunity may be right for you if you meet the following criteria:
- You must be 70 ½ years of age or older
- Gifts must be made directly from a traditional IRA or Roth IRA and not from a 401(k), 403(b) or 457 plan.
- Gifts cannot exceed a total of $100,000 for the year.
- Gifts must be transferred directly from your IRA custodian to The Methodist Hospitals, Inc., a non-profit, tax exempt organization. Federal Tax ID Number: #35-0868133.
- Such gifts for the hospital cannot be made to our Foundation.
- No goods or services can be received by you in exchange for the gift.
How to Make the Gift?
- Work closely with your IRA custodian for directions on how to initiate the transfer of the gift directly to The Methodist Hospitals and learn of any other requirements.
- Inform us of your intention to make the gift by calling Judy Lindsey at (219) 886-4389 to assure it it is directed to the hospital.
