The moment you enter the Methodist Hospitals Breast Care Center, warm earth tones, soft lighting and comfy furniture have helped to create a peaceful, private environment in which Northwest Indiana women receive the Region’s most personalized, high-quality breast health evaluations. We thought of everything – a friendly smile along with patient gowns and a nourishment area serving coffee, tea and other snacks. It is within this nurturing setting that our dedicated staff is focused on your care.
Screening & Diagnostic Mammography: NWI’s FIRST Source for 3D Mammograms
This technology improves the sensitivity and accuracy of mammograms, making it easier for our breast radiologists to detect abnormalities, while reducing the chance for false positive results, and the need for recall appointments.
In addition to 3D mammography, we offer a full suite of diagnostic imaging, including Ultrasound and MRI.
Dense Breast Notification: The state of Indiana requires mammography providers to provide a notification to women who have dense breast tissue, because dense breast tissue can potentially hide small abnormalities and is an independent risk factor in breast cancer development. Please be sure to look for this information on your mammogram report.
Interventional Procedures: Methodist Hospitals employs the most advanced minimally-invasive interventional tools, including MRI biopsies and sterotactic and ultrasound-guided biopsies, as well as cyst aspirations, ductograms and excisional biopsies.
High Risk Breast Program: Our high risk breast program uses a new assessment tool to identify women at higher than a 20% lifetime risk of developing breast cancer. Those patients identified as high risk are recommended to receive genetic testing and undergo an annual breast screening MRI.
